Ronald G. Hoerner, 58, of Massapequa Park, a retired NYS Police Investigator, died tragically on Sept. 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. Shortly after retirement from the NYS Police in 1994, Ron joined Summit Security Systems, Inc. In 1996, he became resident manager of security as the World Trade Center. On Sept. 11, Ron was assisting the Port Authority with evacuation plans as well as aiding numerous individuals to safety when he perished in the South Tower. He is dearly missed by his wife, Barbara; parents, Marie and Robert; stepdaughters, Tracey DeTommaso, Jill Thornton and Christie Phelan; and seven grandchildren.
