The Lady Dalers came out smoking and scored early and often to win the Long Island Lacrosse Championships at Longwood High School over Suffolk champion Northport 12-4 and advance to the New York State Semi-Finals at Cortland on June 7.
Farmingdale (18-0-1) was awesome in victory. Fielding a team that has no seniors on its roster, played a near perfect game. Its defense was terrific featuring Joanna Venditto and Katie Hogan. On offense, Cohen (3), Hillier (2), Hogan (2), McPartland (2), Pellizzi (2) and Fanning scored for the Dalers. Can you believe that Cohen, Hogan and Fanning are 10th graders, McPartland a ninth grader and Pellizzi and Hillier are juniors? The unbeatable goaltender, Emily Fortunato, is only a junior. The Lady Dalers have youth and speed plus outstanding coaching with Head Coach Tracy Winer and Assistant Coach Shari Campbell. It has been a long but very successful season and the team will enjoy their trip to the State Championships.
Farmingdale has a lot to be proud of, as the boy's lacrosse team are the Nassau County Champions and remember our football team was Long Island champions this year.
What a season this has been for our teams, our athletic director, Tom Howard, for the coaches, for the loyal fans and the community. "Go Dalers!"
