History in the Remaking
Erik Lindbergh, grandson of legendary Charles Lindbergh, recently recreated his grandfather's solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Starting at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, Lindbergh departed on May 1 and arrived in Paris 17 hours later, taking up only about half the time as his grandfather had 75 years ago.
Probable Delay in District Capital Improvement
Three capital improvement projects which are to take place at Farmingdale High School likely will begin later than planned.
Openings Available for June 15 Charity Softball Tourney
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the LI Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. Any team that wishes to participate should call Jeff Jackson at 631-427-8272; a $500 donation to the Arthritis Foundation is required. In addition to team sponsorship, the foundation is accepting T-shirt, field and event sponsorships. Among the sponsors already committed are Avanti Pharmaceuticals, Farrell Fritz PC, KPMG, Nassau County American Softball Association Umpires and Columbus Lodge #2143 OSIA.
PAL Spirit and Eighth Grade Seniors Remain Undefeated
The Farmingdale PAL Spirit sixth grade girls lacrosse team extended their winning streak to three with a dominant 10-3 victory over Long Beach increasing their record to 3-0-1. The Spirit led at halftime 6-0 and 7-1 after three quarters. The Farmingdale girls completely dominated the Long Beach team, but the Spirit players and coaching staff refused to run up the score showing good sportsmanship.
