The Farmingdale Titans, a girls U-10 travel team, is still alive in the State Cup competition. Last September, over 80 teams from Albany to Montauk started playing in the State Cup competition. Today only eight are still playing. The Titans will play their next game at Howitt Middle School on Sunday, May 19 at 10:50 a.m. against the Scarsdale Raiders and invite all to come watch a great game.

Since the Titans were formed about one year ago they had had great success in many tournaments: 2nd place Massapequa Memorial Day, 1st place Noga Sand tournament, 2nd place premiere division at Redland Classic in Hershey, PA., 1st place FC Westchester Columbus Day, 2nd place Farmingdale Turkey Bowl, 1st place Rockland Community College indoor tournament and 1st place Lindenhurst winter league.

Besides the tournaments the Titans are currently playing league games in the Long Island Junior Soccer League. They are currently 3-1 in Division One. There are over 100 girls' U-10 teams playing travel in Long Island Junior.

The team has worked extremely hard to be considered one of the best teams on Long Island and will continue to work hard as they improve each week. The team is led in goal by Lauren Berlingo with 10 shutouts in a season and a half of play. The defense is anchored by their sweepers Lisa and Meghan Campbell. The strong and aggressive defensive unit is completed with three very aggressive and spunky players, Sarah Mulcahy, Toni Roulet, and Jen Hults. The middle of the field is controlled by their center halfback Tara Coyle, who works the ball to all parts of the field. Their right halfback is Kayla Mueger, who leads the team in scoring over the last one and one-half seasons. Their left halfback is Cassandra Beggen, who uses her blazing speed to create offense. Their last halfback who plays all three positions and helps out on defense is filled by Samantha Baum. Their offense is completed with their wings, Vanessa Amezquita who is tied for the team lead in scoring this season, and Meghan Milana and Jaime Hart who make it impossible for any goalie to rest.

The team looks forward to a great spring finish with goals of a State Cup Championship and first place finish in Division One. The coaches and parents are extremely proud of all the girls.
