The 2001 fall season saw the Farmingdale Golden Goals U-12 girls soccer team go undefeated with a record of 8-0-1 and finish first place in their division. They were rewarded for this achievement by being promoted from Division 6E to Division 5E of the Long Island Junior Soccer League. They were also awarded the Sportsmanship Award of their division for the second time in three seasons. The girls, coaches and parents are extremely proud of this award, as it is one of our primary goals for us to achieve every season.
The 2002 spring season has started off the same way the last season ended. Even though the girls are playing in a tougher division, they have won their first three games while giving up only one goal against. This has truly been a team effort as a rash of injuries have not been able to keep the girls down. The last two games have seen the girls battle with only either one or two substitutes for the entire game while two of the three wins have come while playing away from home. The stingy defense is again anchored by goalie sensation Jessica Wadsworth. In front of her are the unbeatable fullbacks/forwards Jamie DiSilvio, Katie Rocks and Brittany Kohlmann. Alyssa Tyson, Amanda Pratt, Alyssa Kildare, Nicole Scottile, Ashley Vitale, Leigha Snider, and Whitney Hronec tirelessly patrol the midfield. Up front are the lethal Emily Fugarazzo, Nicole Conway, and Brittany Mallahy. Alyssa Mercante has been out all season with a broken foot but will be welcomed finally back for the next game. All the girls are quite versatile playing many different positions on the field.
With the support from our excellent sponsor, Farmingdale Physical Therapy, and from all our wonderful and dedicated parents, the girls continue to improve as they look forward to another rewarding year. Go Golden Goals!
