'A Dream Come True'
With the Town of Oyster Bay's recent measure to acquire an approximate 15 acres of the Liberty Superfund Site in Farmingdale, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced earlier this week that they will be implementing a full cleanup of the property, which includes the removal of all contaminated soils, so the site could be used for recreational purposes.

US Open Comes to Farmingdale This June
The 102nd United States Open (US Open) Golf Championship is coming to Bethpage State Park's famed Black Course, one of five golf courses at the park, this June. With attendance estimates nearing 60,000 spectators, some residents have expressed concern regarding security and traffic issues on local roads. Village and school officials are assuring residents that there is no need for concern, stressing that plans for the event are all under control.

Resident Scores as Record Field Completes Fifth Annual Kings Park 15K Run
The biggest field to ever compete in a 15 Kilometer Run on Long Island crossed the finish line of the fifth annual Kings Park 15 Kilometer Challenge Run at the W.T. Rogers Middle School on Sunday morning, March 17. A strong contingent of Farmingdale runners were part of the total of 775 runners who made their way to the finish.

Hawks Football and Cheerleading Registration
The Farmingdale Hawks will hold an additional football and cheerleading registration at Farmingdale High School on Thursday April 11 from 8 to 9 p.m. in the cafeteria for boys ages 5-14 and girls from 6-14. Cost is $85, discounts for more than one child. The 13-14-year-old boys and girls will be competing in Daytona Beach, FL Thanksgiving week.
