Guest of Honor Bob Cook (fourth, left) and Rolling Thunder Head Coach Steve Cuomo (third, left) are all smiles as they join with "Roasters" Dr. Mary Trotto of the Bohemia Track Club, John McGorry, Greater Long Island Running Club President Mike Polansky, Runner's Edge Team Captain Scott Gorman and Nancy Cattabiani at the conclusion of the afternoon.

Bob Cook, a longtime resident of Farmingdale and the proprietor of The Runner's Edge running goods store on Main Street in Farmingdale, was the guest of honor at a luncheon/roast on March 10 to raise funds for the Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program.

Everyone in attendance had a good time and helped raise significant monies for the Rolling Thunder Program. Those roasting Cook included many of the leaders of the Long Island athletics community. The Rolling Thunder Program utilizes athletics to promote and encourage inclusion, confidence and self-esteem in developmentally disabled and other special needs young people and to assist these youngsters in training, racing and other mainstream sporting activities in order to help them become more independent in their everyday lives. Rolling Thunder presently works with more than 50 special needs athletes from both Nassau County and Suffolk County.
