The OHG had its annual "Awards Night" at the K of C Lodge in Farmingdale. After a long winter of phone calls and meetings it was great to see everyone. All the teams were well represented. The teams bonded together to greet their new members. After a night of pizza and refreshments, they all talked "First Place."
The program began with a short orientation of the league rules and policies.
The award ceremony: First place in the American division went to Morgan B's, managed by Bob Cruickshank. First place in the National division went to Singleton's managed by Rich Brancaccio. The tournament winner was Darian Press, managed by Chris Solberg. Paul Nardone won the home-run derby.
For a special award we were honored by the presence of our alumni: Al Pucciarelli, Dan Ruesterholz, Carl "Herby" Bleck, Ed "The Chief" Butler, Ray "Ralphie" Clucci, Dom Bello and John Suppa who helped celebrate the induction of Rick Kopitsch to the OHG Hall of Fame. The league is proud to honor one of its outstanding members. Rick was known for his ability to play shortstop and hit with power to all fields. He also managed and served on the board. The rumor is, to get Rick out of the house; "The Chief" had to give Rick an offer he could not refuse. Thanks Ed.
We would like to thank Town Supervisor John Venditto and Assemblyman Steve Labriola for stopping by after a busy schedule to join us for some pizza and talk baseball trivia.
Our condolences go out to Bill Johnson and family for the loss of his father. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go to John Falbo after his successful bypass.
We welcome our new sponsor, Synergy Gym, located on Conklin Street near Main Street, Farmingdale.
