School District Discusses Parking Concerns at Howitt
With the sixth-graders moving to Howitt Middle School next September, members of the Farmingdale Board of Education and administration are concerned over the issue of adequate parking. At a Feb. 6 board meeting, district architect John Grillo and Assistant Superintendent for Business John Lorentz discussed five options to ease the parking concerns at Howitt Middle School once the new wing is fully constructed and the school welcomes dozens of new teachers.

Downtown: It's All About the Music
In late December, the all new Downtown, a live-music venue located at 190 Main St. in Farmingdale, opened its doors to residents from Farmingdale and beyond offering, among other things, an entourage of various musical entertainment. Now, almost two months later, the establishment believes in being a good neighbor and has a strong presence in the community.

Farmingdale's Bob Cook Scores in State Parks Winter Series Run
Farmingdale resident Bob Cook recently scored in second place in the 55 to 59 age group in the Caumsett State Park 4 kilometer run on Feb. 3. The run was part of the Winter Series of State Parks races hosted by the Long Island State Parks Region. Cook completed the 4K course in 18 minutes, 51 seconds.

Dalers Lead Hockey Team to State Championships
Howitt Middle School student Mickey Venezia and his Long Island Green Machine Stars Teammates are going to the New York State Tier II Bantam Championships for the second year in a row. The team will travel to Geneseo, NY to play for an invitation to this years USA Hockey National Championships.
