The success of the December 2001 Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run enabled the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC) to be very generous to three most deserving causes, and at the club's Jan. 15 meeting checks were presented in the amount of $3,000 to the Bretton Bowl Fund for the needy families of Bethpage, in the amount of $2,500 to the Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education, and in the amount of $1,000 to Long Island Track & Field for use in LITF's youth programs.

Bob and Joe present the check to LITF President Sue Polansky and LITF Youth Chairman John Martin, as part of our ongoing efforts to support running programs for Long Island's youth.

The checks were presented by Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run Co-Directors Joe Sturgess and Bob Sherman.

"We are proud and pleased that, thanks to the success of the 2001 Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run, we were able to help support the great charitable endeavors being done by Gary Bretton and his fund for local needy families, the important breast health education programs being conducted by Dr. Virginia Maurer and the team at the Maurer Foundation, and the terrific athletic programs for local youths being conducted by Long Island Track & Field," observed Co-Directors Sturgess and Sherman.
