George L. Franke Jr., 69, died on Dec. 5, 2001. He was born Dec. 21, 1931, son of the late George L. and Mabel Ihlenburg Franke in Amityville. Mr. Franke served his country in the US Navy and was employed by Prudential-Bache Securities where he retired as vice president. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Chruch in Wilson, NC, A.M. Vets, was a Red Cross volunteer, a volunteer firefighter in Farmingdale, Interfaith Disaster Relief Team and president of the Church Council of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Farmingdale. Surviving are his wife Maureen D., son and daughter-in-law George L. and Joanne Franke of Cary, daughters and sons-in-law Anita and Anthony Casino of Setauket, June and Jim Mateer of Massapequa and Diane and Michael Colecchia of Farmingdale; grandchildren Michael, Justin and Christina Franke, Andrew, Lauren and Greg Casino, Michael and Jacquelyn Mateer and Nicholas and Anthony Colecchia. He was preceded in death by his first wife Anita Gargano Franke. Arrangements were made by the Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service, Wilson, NC. Services at Ascension Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Dey officiating. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
