The season for 2001 came to the most dramatic ending between the World Trade Center holocaust and our own personal losses. The league extends its sympathy and condolences to any of the "Over the Hill Gang" family and friends, as well as all Americans who were affected.
It is now time to congratulate our regular season winners. In the American league, Morgan B's., managed by Bob Cruickshank, and in the National league, Singletons, managed by Rich Brancacci.
The addition of some new players and the good years that we got from our seasoned vets, made this a special season for the league.
But! Oh those umpires!
On our charity tournament we would like to congratulate all the teams for their excellent play and their personal contributions. With our homerun derby and the chance books, we were able to give the family of Rich Rademacher a check for $2,500.
A special salute goes to our tournament finalists, Darien Press, managed by Kris Solberg and Barboy, managed by Frank Pepe. Dariens won the final game.
It takes a lot of energy and effort from all of us to stage this event.
We would like to thank all the committees. Some of the direct hands-on-people were: Frank Horoszewski, Bob Darienzo, Angelo Bellia, Paul Nardone, Vinnie Misuraca, Bill Moyer, Ed Butler, Joe Fanning, Ray Colucci, John Falbo, Al Palleschi, Bruce Kubart, Gary Innis, Maria Ball, Brien Tinney and Bob Cruickshank. Thank you guys!
Thanks to Mike Raulf and his crew for their special help all year with the fields at Allen Park.
Very special thanks go to Ed Shillitto for being our master of ceremonies and for his touching and passionate rendition of God Bless America. Also special thanks go to the beautiful Jennifer Crow for singing our Star Spangled Banner.
The league also sends our condolences to Dom Bello and family on the passing of his father Carl and to Tom and Kevin Taylor and their families in the passing of their father, John W.
