Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. will again collect toys for his fourth annual toy drive to benefit the Children's Medical Fund at Schneider Children's Hospital of the North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health System. Unwrapped toys can be delivered to Fuschillo's office at 30 South Ocean Avenue, Room 305, Freeport, New York, 11520. Toys should be age appropriate ranging from infant to early teens.
"I continue this drive each year because I have witnessed the joy it brings to so many children and their families who must spend the holidays in the hospital," Fuschillo said. "In the past, thanks to many residents and organizations throughout Long Island, hundreds of toys are donated each year and I anticipate the same success this holiday season."
The Children's Medical Fund is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization devoted to helping support Schneider Children's Hospital. The Children's Medical Fund's financial donations help pay for the needed medical equipment to enhance exploration in areas such as oncology and neurology, education, and institutes new programs for the hospital. It also helps finance the Child Life Program, designed to lessen the stress of a child's hospital stay through therapeutic play and activities. The Children's Medical Fund also sponsors the Angel Campaign, supporting the Bone Marrow Transplantation Program at Schneider Children's Hospital and funds the Pediatric Urology Research Center, trying to find the cause and cure for the most common pediatric kidney malignancy, Wilm's tumor.
