We are writing this letter in response to the paid advertisement by David Mejias in your October 19, 2001 issue of the Observer.

Firstly, Mr. Mejias misstated our name. We are not the "Farmingdale Civic Association." Our correct name is Concerned Citizens Association of Farmingdale (CCAF).

Secondly, while Mr. Mejias certainly paid for the advertising of CCAF's "Meet the Candidates Night," we wish to disassociate ourselves from his statements concerning Mr. Pontillo.

CCAF is a nonprofit, nonpartisan community organization. We wished to sponsor this event to allow both candidates to participate in a question-and-answer session for the benefit of all concerned.

We hope this clarifies the advertisement. For anyone wishing to learn more about CCAF, please visit us at www.fdale.com/CCAF.
