I am a confused voter. I have recently received campaign literature from Sal Pontillo in which he strongly implies that he is a fresh face in politics and is running for the Nassau County Legislature. All this time I thought he was the incumbent legislator who approved all the financial schemes put forth by the Republican County Executive, Tom Gulotta, and the Republican controlled Nassau County Legislature.

As an incumbent legislative member of the Republican Party in the county Legislature, Pontillo is associated with all the problems caused by one party control of our county government. I am confused, since he, as the longtime incumbent was and is part of the problem and now he implies that he is a new face and part of the solution. He seems to be trying to prove Lincoln wrong by disproving Lincoln's maxim that "...you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

Perhaps the confusion can be ended by following the advice Mr. Pontillo puts forth in his recent election piece, "... I expect you to hold me accountable for the job I do...and to vote me out of office if I don't do the job you need." Mr. Pontillo did not do the job of effectively supervising and controlling the finances of Nassau County and should be voted out of office.
