Last week's edition of the Farmingdale Observer presented an interesting contrast in character between our current County Legislator Sal Pontillo and his opponent David Mejias.

Mr. Mejias took out a full page ad attacking Mr. Pontillo. Meanwhile, Mr. Pontillo chose to send the community a spiritual message emphasizing bipartisan support for our efforts here and abroad against terrorism.

As far as I'm concerned, this was a class act by Pontillo and shows that the Democrat is out of touch with the people who live in our community. I'm a registered Democrat, I've seen Mr. Pontillo at numerous community activities and I believe he does a fine job representing our interests.

He's got my vote in November and his opponent would be wise to stop attacking him. People just don't want to hear that type of political drivel right now.
