On Friday, Sept. 29, the Farmingdale Dalers hosted the East Meadow Jets in their home opener. The game would start off as a stalemate, but with time the home team gained the advantage.
The Jets took possession of the ball first and stalled out after a short drive. Then the Dalers got the ball but went three and out. This was a constant occurrence in a scoreless first quarter. However, the Dalers closed the first quarter with a strong drive, and would score very early in the quarter making the score 7-0 Farmingdale.
The Farmingdale defense unit stayed strong, as Yinka Bosede picked up two early sacks against the massive East Meadow offensive line. Through turnovers and good field position, the defenders stayed strong, keeping their opponents out of the end zone for the second straight week.
The Dalers were extremely productive on offense. They pounded the ball down the field and went to the air for big yardage. When nothing was open, or the pocket collapsed, their shifty quarterback, Matt Danowski scrambled, picking up big yardage and getting himself out of trouble. He finished the game 5 for 8, with two TD tosses and almost 80 yards on the ground. The Dalers also rushed for two touchdowns.
The Jets did manage to put up a field goal, after a Farmingdale turnover deep in their own territory. The final score was 35-3 Farmingdale. The team was pleased with the performance and pulled together for another of what they hope to turn into a chain of successful games.
