Liberty Industrial Site Update
Following a meeting of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held at the Farmingdale Public Library on Aug. 9, members of the EPA, upon the request of residents, have extended the public comment period regarding the recently issued proposed cleanup plan to Friday, Sept. 21.

EPA Looks to Delete Local Superfund Site From NPL
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced its proposed deletion of the Tronic Plating Company Superfund Site from the National Priorities List (NPL). The EPA is requesting public comment on this decision, and has said that the decision to delete the site from the list does not preclude future actions under Superfund. Sites delisted from the NPL remain eligible for remedial actions in the unlikely event that conditions at the site warrant such action.

Farmingdale Swim Club Future Olympians
Boys and girls ages 6 through 18 (1st to 12th grade) who possess a swimming ability and desire to improve their skills are invited to tryout to be part of the United States Swim Program (Farmingdale Swim Club). Competition within the metropolitan area in the club's age group program is an ongoing activity throughout the year. Their program includes stroke correction and dry lands under a professional coaching staff.

Virtually all of the goods and services necessary to stage a first class race (including shirts being donated by South Shore Outdoor) are being donated (including the services of the club) and the entire net proceeds will be turned over to a special fund being set up by the Parks Department and our club solely for the special needs of Nassau County's recreational and parks programs. (The money will not go to the county's general fund; it will be used exclusively for parks and recreation purposes.)
