The Farmingdale Titans, one of two newly formed U-10 girls travel teams, won second place in the Massapequa Memorial Day Tournament and first place in Noga's Sand Soccer Tournament.
In the Massapequa Tournament, the girls won 3 games and tied 2 games while outscoring their opponents 12-2. Throughout the tournament Farmingdale had a balanced offense with scoring come from Samantha Baum (3), Kayla Mueger (2), Jennifer Hults (3), Lisa Campbell (2), Tara Coyle (1) and Lauren Berlingo (1). The stingy defense was led by Cassandra Beggen, Meghan Campbell, Sarah Mulcahy and Meghan Milana. Helping with both offense and defense were Vanessa Amezquita, Toni Roulet and Jaime Hart. Lauren Berlingo led the team in goal.
The parents and coaches are extremely proud of the team effort given by all the players.
The Titans played in a sand soccer tournament in Long Beach on Saturday, June 23 and did a fabulous job. The team was entered in a co-ed division where they could play girls, boys or co-ed teams.
The Titans went 5-0 and outscored their opponents 17-0. They defeated a U10 boy's team from Elwood 2-0 in the finals. The girls did an excellent job of playing team ball and they worked the ball to all sides of the field. Every player played in goal during the tournament and nine of the 12 players scored. The following players scored: Kayla Mueger (3), Vanessa Amezquia (3), Jaime Hart (3), Cassandra Beggen (2), Meghan Milana (2) Lisa Campbell (1), Tara Coyle (1), Samantha Baum (1), and Sarah Mulcahy (1). Meghan Campbell, Jenn Hults and Toni Roulet, as well as all the other players, did an outstanding job on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Again, the parents and coaches want to congratulate the girls on an outstanding job. They also want to wish the girls good luck when they go to Hershey, PA for a tournament in August.
