The Farmingdale Wizards enjoyed a successful 2001 spring season. These 12-year-old boys, led by coaches Oscar Salguero and Bill Horn, came together as a team to post a record of 6-2-1. The team also had a successful run in the Waldbaums Cup where four consecutive wins earned them a spot in the semifinals played at Mitchel Field in Uniondale. MVP goalkeeper Kieran Kirk turned in one outstanding performance after another and kept the team competitive in all games. Justin Forry led a group of offensive standouts which include Michael Cornacchia, Carlin Doyle, Scott Ferrara, Nick Horn, Franco Martorana and Kenny Salguero. The defensive effort was led by Logan Doyle and outstanding efforts were turned in by Anand Amin, Tommy Bongiorno and Brett Tiernan. Eric Diorio, Stephen Rizzi and Ryan Slane did an excellent job of controlling the middle of the field. After a successful spring season the Wizards look anxiously forward to their fall schedule. Thanks and congratulations to coaches Horn and Salguero.
