The Hurricanes finished their season with a 4-4-1 record in division 3. The girls, after their sixth game, still having a shot at first place with a 4-1-1 record would not have a chance due to the change of attitude because of a takeover attempt of the team. This takeover was successful and the head coach and her husband would not be part of the team the next year. This coup was successful due to a secret survey that was only given out to two teams at the time. The survey was read by three people on the Farmingdale Board and was sent out by one of the assistant coaches on the Hurricanes who is now the head coach. The three-person committee made this decision very quickly without most of the team knowing anything about it. The surveys were mailed out, were not allowed to be looked at and according to the head of the committee will never be seen again by anyone.
Farmingdale soccer has nothing to do with the kids. It is all about what the board wants at that time and what you can do for the board. Since there are no elections for this board unlike every other soccer club, you parents should get more involved with Farmingdale Soccer and how your money is being spent for your children. My husband and I have been coaching for a total of 13 years. My three children will continue to play travel soccer in Farmingdale, but never again will the Farmingdale Board have our support. In closing, we would like to wish the Hurricanes good luck in Division 3. And those who left we wish you the best in your new ventures. Also good luck to the new coaches, you deserve each other, what a perfect ending.
