Day Laborers Site Closed by Village
Following a meeting of the Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees last Wednesday, where members of the board attempted to ease the concerns of local residents regarding the day laborers site located on the corner of Elizabeth and South Front Streets in Farmingdale, a predominantly residential area, the board decided to fence off the driveway of the location and place "no stopping" signs around the property so the laborers would have to congregate elsewhere.

Dr. Fanning Retires After 19 Years
Dr. William J. Fanning, assistant superintendent for business in the Farmingdale School District for nearly two decades, will retire later this month. Fanning started his assistant superintendent position in 1982, and said "the rest is history.

Columbus Lodge Lions Have Sharks for Dinner
The Sons of Italy - Columbus Lodge #2143 Golden Lions recently extended their winning streak to five games with a pair of softball victories over the Seaford Sharks, 14-1 and 11-1 at Wantagh Park. The victories moved the Lions into a sole possession of third place and just three games behind the division leading Freeport Dirty Dozen. Lions Veteran Frank Curran expressed that the Lions are a good team.

Farmingdale PAL Girls Lacrosse Finishes Successful Season
The PAL Farmingdale Spirit, the fifth grade girls lacrosse team, finished their season with a big 10-4 win over Cold Spring Harbor. The victory earned them a third place finish in their six-team division one super division which included teams from Garden City, Manhasset and Wantagh. The Spirit finished the season with a 4-3-1 record, losing their three games by a total of only six goals.
