The Farmingdale Wolverines Girls U-15 Travel soccer team which is comprised of Ashley Mantooth, Tania Vivilis, Gabrielle Frawley, Laura Napoli, Jessica Miller, Jillian Comuniello, Jenna Leite, Gina Mastadino, Katie Blackman, Niti Misra, Kelly Marmo, Tracy Barnett, Erin Chernow, Katie Palmer, Marie Bell and Caroline Claps, the team's newest addition, competes in Division 5 of the LI Jr. Soccer League and remained undefeated in its last 11 league games over two seasons after a tough battle with the newly formed Babylon Express on April 22 which ended in a 2-2 tie.

The girls who hail from Farmingdale, N. Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Bethpage and Babylon played a grueling state cup game against a Division 3 team from Albertson late on April 21. They caught the Force missing two of its outstanding defenders Kelly Marmo and Laura Napoli. Coach Nick Miller adjusted the lineup as best he could by inserting Caroline Claps at right fullback. After a disappointing start in which 3 goals were given up in the first 20 minutes the girls showed their true spirit posting 2 goals of their own in the next 20 minutes scored by Jenna Leite and Gina Mastadino and the half ended with Farmingdale down 2-3. Although they put on an unrelenting attack in the second half and looked every bit like they were going to tie the game, time ran out before they could score. Significantly this team showed its great character by not allowing another goal in the final 60 minutes of the game..

On Sunday morning, just 12 hours after their last game, they were back on the field at Howitt again this time playing formidable division opponent, the Babylon Express. The Force's Katie Palmer rewarded the coaches decision to give her some playing time at the forward position by scoring the first goal of the game within the first 5 minutes. Babylon (also undefeated and comprised of mostly school JV soccer players) came back to tie the score by converting on an indirect kick just outside the penalty box. Babylon then took the lead in the second half when a clearing pass in front of the net was intercepted and kicked high into the left hand corner of the home teams goal. Down by a goal, their backs against the wall and time running out, left forward Gina Mastadino scored to tie the game from her left wing position with less than 3 minutes to go. A last attempt by Babylon to score in the final minute, resulting in a scramble in front of the Farmingdale goal, was spectacularly rejected (twice!) by goalie Jillian Comuniello and the defense leaving both the coach and parents breathless and hoarse.

On April 29 the Force gave coach "Nick" an early birthday present by keeping their unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 victory over a tough Manhasset team. Katie Palmer started the scoring in the first half with a nice shot from her center forward position close to the net. In the second half the offensive pressure being applied by Farmingdale started to mount and Tracy Barnett scored the second goal of the game also from the center forward position and in close. "Palmer" (as she likes to be called) finished off the scoring with her second goal of the day with an assist from right wing Ashley Mantooth. The "Force" is currently tied for first place in their division

Coach Nick Miller, Asst. Coaches Gail Mantooth and Lou Bell are very proud to be coaching a team of girls from diverse locations who have great camaraderie as they practice and play together. They thank all the parents for their commitment to their children and the team.
