  • NEWS: Board of Education Candidate Forum Held

    Three Candidates Address Views on Education in Farmingdale Schools -- A candidate's forum was held on Thursday evening, April 26 to provide residents with an opportunity to meet three candidates running for open board of education trustee seats. Two candidates, Lisa Bell and Joy Jorgensen, are running for the seat currently held by Dr. Dolores Saxton, who recently announced that she intends to step down following this school year. Tina Diamond, who is currently on the board of education, is running unopposed. FULL STORY

    Students from Howitt Middle School and Farmingdale High School were recently among more than 50 different schools which participated in the 15th annual United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. (UCP Nassau) Trivia Challenge Championship. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: First Place Farmingdale Force Undefeated in Last 11 Games

    The Farmingdale Wolverines Girls U-15 Travel soccer team which is comprised of Ashley Mantooth, Tania Vivilis, Gabrielle Frawley, Laura Napoli, Jessica Miller, Jillian Comuniello, Jenna Leite, Gina Mastadino, Katie Blackman, Niti Misra, Kelly Marmo, Tracy Barnett, Erin Chernow, Katie Palmer, Marie Bell and Caroline Claps, the team's newest addition, competes in Division 5 of the LI Jr. Soccer League and remained undefeated in its last 11 league games over two seasons after a tough battle with the newly formed Babylon Express on April 22 which ended in a 2-2 tie.   • SPORTS: Sonics Soar to Sixth Grade PAL Basketball Championship

    On Monday, April 2, the Sonics defeated the Spurs 33-19 to capture the sixth grade PAL basketball championship. The victory concluded an undefeated season with a record of 12-0. In the playoffs, the Sonics pressure defense produced numerous easy baskets which resulted in 3 wins over the Warriors, Kings and Spurs. In the semifinal and final wins the Sonics were led by Thomas and Rich Sacco with 10 points. Louis Alimo hit a key corner jump shot with 40 seconds remaining to secure the semifinal victory.
