My name is Lisa Bell and I am running for a trustee position on the Farmingdale School District Board of Education. For those of you who don't know me, I would like to introduce myself to the Farmingdale School District community.

I am married and have three children who currently attend our Farmingdale Public Schools. As an active resident since 1990, I have volunteered many hours of service to our community's children. For the last 10 years, I have worked diligently with the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA and other organizations.

I have served in numerous PTA executive positions, including president of both SEPTA (our Special Education PTA) and Woodward Parkway's PTA. I have served as a parent member for the CSE (Committee on Special Education) as well as on Woodward Parkway's Shared Decision Making Team and currently on the district's Shared Decision Making Team.

I have lobbied our legislators both locally and in Albany for our fair share of state aid to education and I will continue to be vigilant on this issue. I believe that I have become a better child and parent advocate over the years by attending legislative rallies, NYS PTA and Nassau District PTA workshops and conventions. My training and involvement have only intensified my dedication to our school district and have provided me with the ability to represent you, the residents, as the next trustee on the board of education. Being involved in the largest parent and child organization has kept me in touch with all the educational and social issues facing our children today. I want to ensure that all of our children receive the kind of education that they need and deserve to be successful in an evolving future, while at the same time being mindful of our tax dollar.

My goal is to become someone you can come and talk to when you have questions or concerns. Your voice is powerful and does count too! Our school district's challenge to meet the new standards is our number one priority. My children as well as yours will be directly affected by the decisions made by the board of education as these challenges are met. I invite you to meet me at our Candidate's Forum on Thursday, April 26 in the Weldon E. Howitt auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Voting day is Tuesday, May 15 and I sincerely hope that I can count on your vote. A vote for Lisa Bell is a vote for the future of our Farmingdale School District.
