Among the highlights of the March 20 meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club was the presentation of a check by the Wiszowaty Agency of Nationwide Insurance in support of its title sponsorship of the 24th annual Nationwide Insurance 10K Run for ASPIRE, which will be held on the roads of Plainview-Old Bethpage on Saturday morning, April 7. The Wiszowaty Agency is based on Merrick Road in Massapequa Park.

"We are thrilled to welcome Nationwide Insurance on board once again as the title sponsor of the ASPIRE Run," noted Run Co-Director Bob Windorf of GLIRC. "Thanks to their generosity, we will once again put on a quality race that should raise a significant amount of funds for the good work being done by the ASPIRE Program."
ASPIRE is a non profit agency that, since 1986, has been helping individuals and their families cope with the realities of losing or being born without a limb. ASPIRE Executive Director Paddy Rossbach is herself an amputee athlete who has held the record for the fastest NYC Marathon by a below knee amputee. The funds raised through the April 7 race will be used for ASPIRE's efforts to promote optimum prosthetic and rehabilitation care for young amputees, to foster participation in sports as an aid to the rehabilitative process for young amputees, and to take the young amputees on the ASPIRE junior team to track and field, swimming and skiing events.
