Over 700 runners successfully completed the fourth annual Kings Park 15K Run on Sunday, March 25. Most successful of the runners was Farmingdale resident Donna McMahon, who broke her own course record to win the Women's Division of this challenging 9.3 mile run for the third year in a row.

McMahon stormed up Old Dock Road to the finish at the W. T. Rogers Middle School in a winning time of 58:10 finish, easily eclipsing the women's course record of 59:33 of that she set in 2000. Her margin of victory over her closest rival was more than three full minutes.
Other top finishers from Farmingdale in the run included Jean Bohan, who scored third in the Women's 30-34 age group in 1:09:23, and Mary Anne Goldman who took first place honors in the Women's 50-54 age group in 1:15:41.
The Kings Park Run was deliberately designed to be the toughest of challenges, incorporating as many hills as possible into 9.3 miles, culminating with the final one mile climb up Old Dock Road to the finish at the middle school. As one competitor put it, "it hurts, it really hurts, but what a sense of accomplishment and pride when you cross the finish line."
The Kings Park 15K Run is administered by the Greater Long Island Running Club with GLIRC's Mary Ellen Stajk serving as race director. The run is part of the KeySpan/Long Island Track and Field Grand Prix of Long Island Racing, and serves as Long Island Track and Field's 15K Championship Run.
"This is the toughest of tests, and Donna has once again proven herself to be a real champion," observed Stajk. "Our congratulations to Donna, Jean and Mary Anne, and to all our other friends from Farmingdale who helped make this event a success once again."
