'A Hard Act to Follow'
Since announcing his intention to retire in June, several members of the Farmingdale School District and the community have expressed how much he will be missed once he is gone. A district administrator for over a decade, Dempsey's colleagues and friends are sad to see him go.

DEC Announces Proposed Remedial Action Plan
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) held a public meeting regarding remediation of an inactive hazardous waste disposal site located in Farmingdale last Thursday, March 8, at the Farmingdale Public Library. The meeting was scheduled in an effort to provide local residents with information and accept public comment on the DEC's proposal plan to remediate soil contamination at the site.

Farmingdale Fireballs Travel to Teaneck Armory
On Saturday, Feb. 3, the Farmingdale Fireballs traveled to the Teaneck Armory to compete in an indoor tournament at the Soccer Coliseum. The U8 Girls played four teams from New Jersey in 28 minute games during the four and one half hour event. The first contest pitted the Fireballs against a completely overmatched "Maroons" team. With a final score of 7-0, the girls from Long Island were never challenged. The next two games however, were very competitive as the "Wayne Fury" held the Fireballs scoreless for the first 12 minutes. The 0-0 tie was finally broken when the Fireballs scored the first goal in an eventual 3-0 victory for the Farmingdale team.

Over the Hill Gang Report
On Friday, March 2, the Over the Hill Gang held its annual awards night. It was a great time for all the teams to welcome the new players. After a long winter, the guys really look forward to seeing their teammates, sitting down to pizza, beverage and to talk softball.
