The Farmingdale Midget Football Association's annual registration will be Friday, March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be signing up football players ages 5 through 14 and cheerleaders ages 6 to 14. Sign ups will be held in the cafeteria of Howitt Middle School. The Hawks concluded a very successful football and cheerleading season in 2000 and are looking forward to an even better one in 2001. Planning is the key to success, those interested are asked to sign up early this year so that the team may plan properly for the upcoming season. These will be the only two registration days available.
In addition to the regular season activities for the football players and cheerleaders, the team is planning its second annual football day for Saturday, June 23 at Allen Park, which is open to everyone in Farmingdale. Football Day is being held in conjunction with the NY Jets organization that will be supplying some of the attractions from their own Jets Fest Day. They will also be having a punt pass and kick contest, and a cheerleading clinic for those interested in cheerleading. Last year was a great success and the Hawks are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.
The senior division (13 and 14-year-olds) will be attending a tournament in Daytona, Florida, Thanksgiving Day weekend again this year. The football players will be playing teams from across the country and the cheerleaders will also be competing in their own competition against squads from around the country. The trip was a huge success last year and they are looking forward to it this upcoming season.
The Farmingdale Midget Football Association is committed to providing a quality program for the youths of Farmingdale and are working hard to ensure that their experience is a positive one.
