Senator Carl Marcellino invites residents to nominate an exceptional woman who is deserving of special recognition for the New York State Senate's "Women of Distinction," a program created as part of the Senate's celebration of Women's History Month.
"Many of us know a woman who has done much for the local community," Marcellino said. "She has excelled in her world, performing unselfish acts or made significant contributions to the well being of those around her.
"These remarkable women whose lives, work or special accomplishments contributed to making our communities better, making our families stronger and serve as special examples to others," Marcellino continued. "The Senate's 'Women of Distinction' program provides a special opportunity to honor these women for their achievements and to thank them for the special pride they bring to our communities."
Women who live in the Fifth Senate District, which includes the City of Glen Cove and northern portions of the Towns of Oyster Bay and Huntington, are eligible to be considered as a Woman of Distinction. The Senate will honor the distinguished women from local areas and throughout the State in June, where each honoree's photograph and biography will become part of a special exhibit proclaiming the special contributions of exemplary New York women. Special nomination forms are available by contacting Senator Marcellino's District offices at 922-1811 or 631-549-0729. Nominations must be submitted by March 30.
