Local Teachers Receive Grants From Women's Club
The Junior League of the Women's Club of Farmingdale recently awarded eight teachers within the Farmingdale School District with a grant of $250. The Junior League invited all district educators who teach grades kindergarten through eighth, as well as teachers at both the Bethpage and Farmingdale campus of LaSalle Regional School, to apply for this grant.
SUNY Farmingdale's Search For New President Under Way
For the past several months, members of the Presidential Search Committee at SUNY Farmingdale have been interviewing and reviewing several applications from candidates looking to obtain the position of president at the college. This is the second consecutive year that the school has been looking for a new president. The committee had conducted a presidential search last year, but did not elect anybody to fill the position.
Dalers Cap Season With Strong Finish
The Dalers boys swim team qualified for finals in 8 of 12 events at the Nassau County Championships in February enroute to a sixth place finish. It was the team's best result at the meet in nearly five years.
Farmingdale Hawks Football and Cheerleading Registration
The Farmingdale Midget Football Association's annual registration will be Friday, March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will be signing up football players ages 5 through 14 and cheerleaders ages 6 to 14. Sign ups will be held in the cafeteria of Howitt Middle School. The Hawks concluded a very successful football and cheerleading season in 2000 and are looking forward to an even better one in 2001. Planning is the key to success, those interested are asked to sign up early this year so that the team may plan properly for the upcoming season. These will be the only two registration days available.
