Strong winds and driving rains greeted the runners at the starting line and persisted through the event, and mud and heavy flooding made the footing on the trails very tough, but it certainly didn't deter the participants from Farmingdale, who captured first place in both the high school boys and girls division of the event.
The boys team of 15-year-old Tim Keogh (19:23), 17-year-old Juan Nunez, (19:27), 18-year-old Carlos Hoyos (19:28) and 17-year-old Sean Marcel (20:26) took top honors in their division. The Farmingdale girls team of 16-year-old Jen Campbell (22:31), 15-year-old Carly Shanahan (23:02), 16-year-old Kristen Williams (23:10) and 14-year-old Tia Wofford took top honors in their division. Jen Campbell also won individual honors as the first woman overall to cross the finish line.
