Farmingdale Kiwanis Celebrates Officer Installation Night
The Kiwanis Club of Farmingdale, now in its 44th chartered year, recently celebrated its Officer Installation Night at The Lotus Garden Restaurant in Farmingdale. Honorary guest, Kiwanis Long Island North Division Lieutenant Governor Kathy Shanker, was on hand at the celebration to install the new officers.

Superintendent Search in Progress
With the retirement in June of Gerard W. Dempsey Jr., superintendent of Farmingdale schools for over a decade, the district recently began its search for somebody to fill his shoes. With the assistance of the Suffolk County Organization for the Promotion of Education (SCOPE), the Farmingdale Board of Education hopes to make their selection by February.

This week marks the 7th where the Observer has printed featured members of the Farmingdale Hurricanes girls soccer team. This week's featured members are Mackenzie Porter and Jillian Pound, two fifth grade students at Northside Elementary.

Senior Hawks Take 2nd in Championship Playoffs
The Farmingdale Senior Hawks football team took second place in the Pop Warner Nassau-Suffolk Championship Playoffs on Sunday, Dec. 3. After defeating the Copiague Eagles 28-13, the Hawks lost a close game, 28-20, to the undefeated Lindenhurst Bulldogs. The Hawks dominated the first half behind the running efforts of Nakyle Bethay and Tim Callahan and passing from QB Anthony Camacho to receiver Charles Ross. Bethay ran for the first touchdown of the game. In the second quarter, Lawrence Stuart ran in for a second Hawks touchdown, George Turner made a key defensive tackle and Ross intercepted the only pass thrown by Lindenhurst giving Farmingdale a 12-0 lead at the half.
