White House Stamp Unveiled at Farmingdale Library
To celebrate the issuance of the new White House commemorative stamp, Congressman Peter King joined with community leaders and postal officials for an unveiling of the stamp at the Farmingdale Public Library last Monday. The stamp was issued in Washington on Oct. 18 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the White House as the official residence of the American president.
New Island Hospital Opens New Telemetry Unit
In its commitment to provide quality patient care to the residents of its surrounding communities, New Island Hospital in Bethpage recently announced the opening of its new 25-bed Telemetry Unit. The hospital serves neighborhood communities such as Farmingdale, Bethpage, Massapequa, Hicksville, Levittown and Plainview.
Stars Point Towards Play-offs
The St. Kilian CYO Stars ran their record to 6-3 with a brilliant 31-13 victory over St. Patrick of Smithtown last Saturday. The Stars dominated a team that was taller at every position. The St. Kilian coaching staff pulled off the press in the first quarter leading 12-0, but the Stars still led at half-time 24-3. In the fourth quarter the girls ran their man to man motion offense with instructions from the bench not to score.
Ten-Year-Old Hawks Going Strong
The breezes of the bay were with the 10-year-old Hawks Team this Sunday against the Inwood buccaneers as they continued to improve their record to 5-1. The Hawks powerful offense dominated over the Bucs with a score of 26-6. The backfield was very impressive, scoring four touchdowns, two by Tashawn Arthur, one by Michael Lagalante and a quarterback sneak by Dave Critelli. Arthur and Lagalante scored the two extra points. The offensive linemen were explosive with great blocking by Justin Bernardino, Matt Flapan, Mike Ragno, Dante Fiorerosso, Joe Licata, Conor Jones, Austin Restaino and John Ninivaggi.
