The Farmingdale girls U7 soccer team took first place at the Columbus weekend tournament at Heckscher State Park in East Islip. Team dynamite, as they were dubbed by tournament officials, played a total of four games winning all four and scoring 28 goals while giving up only three. Caitlin Milana set the pace offensively by scoring a team high eight goals. Sweepers Julie Teller and Caroline Ciorciari played pivotal roles both offensively and defensively. Forwards Colleen Reynolds, Tara Grzinic, Allison Hausmann and Kaitlin Gaghan were key components as they were able to sustain offensive pressure on the opposing teams. Debbie Johnson and Nicole Scimeca were very effective in their dual roles on offense and defense. Samantha Kender made key contributions on offense but will be remembered most for her stellar performance in goal. As a team, goals were scored by nine different girls. The defensive combinations were also effective and did a spectacular job. The success of this team would not have been possible without the fine contributions of every single girl on the squad.
