The following is an open letter from President Jim Reilly:
God Called a Friend Too Early
Kenny Reynolds played, managed and served the board for 23 years. He was in charge of one of our most complicated committees, scheduling, with 12 teams on two fields in three time slots for 16 weekly games. It was a task only "he" could handle. Kenny played on the same team his whole career. When the league asked for volunteers to manage an expansion team in a Wednesday night division, Kenny drafted and managed the team to an undefeated season and championship, something Kenny was always proud of.
In a charity tournament for Cerebral Palsy, Kenny appeared as Frankenstein and did the Monster Mash on the field with the young cheerleaders for the Farmingdale Hawks. It was a moment to remember. He was known as the "league jester."
In the early days with his friendly smile, great jokes and jovial manner, Kenny helped to create the spirit of the league that cultivated many friendships and the camaraderie we share today. As a teammate, I can speak for the whole team when I say Ken was a competitor. But after a serious loss, and there were many, Ken would put us together with his "frank opinion" of our play with two words.
Kenny will be remembered for his design and presentation of the Crushed Beer Can Award and other awards. Kenny will always be in our hearts and memories. God called a friend too early.
