Galpine, 77, died on Sept. 8, 2000. He was a member of Ornamental Iron Workers Local #580. An Army veteran of WWII, he was a member of VFW Post #516, Farmingdale. Husband for 50 years of Madeline. Father of Kathleen, Patricia Haslam, Joanne VanEwyk and MaryAnn Kirchoff. Father-in-law of Patrick VanEwyk and Kenneth Kirchoff. Brother of Edward, Alfred, Edna Mae Keely, Elizabeth Brady, the late John and the late Gerard. Grandfather of Kerri and Nicole Haslam. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. A Naval veteran of WWII, he was co-founder and a life member of the Farmingdale Hawks and treasurer of the NC Youth Football League. He was predeceased in 1997 by his wife Catherine. Father of Ann Best, Ellen Sullivan, Robert Jr., Rita Legotti and Christine Matarese. Brother of Peggy Kinsley. Grandfather of eight. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
