Russell Schroter, of Melville, died on April 2, 2000. Husband of Hilde. Father of David, Michael and Russell. Grandfather of Kristin and Paul. Brother of Walter and Robert. Arrangements were made by the M.A. Connell Funeral Home, Huntington Station. Religious service. Theresa C. Lust (nee Vogt), of Bethpage, died on April 4, 2000. Wife of the late John. Mother of Jacqueline Ploetzke. Grandmother of five. Great-grandmother of five. Sister of Charles Vogt and Betty Hopp. Arrangements were made by the Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, Wantagh. Funeral Mass at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Marion P. Waite, 93, of Long Lake, died on April 22, 2000 at her home. Born on July 18, 1906 in Newburg, she was the daughter of Robert and Arabelle Crane (Croley) Phyfe. Mrs. Waite was a graduate of Oneonta Normal School and received her master's degree in education from Columbia University and Hofstra University. In 1938 she married Donald Waite in Schenectady. Mrs. Waite was a teacher in Farmingdale for several years and a principal of two Farmingdale schools from 1956 until her retirement in 1966. After retiring she and her husband moved to Long Lake. Mrs. Waite was involved with the organization of the AARP Adirondack Chapter #1250. She served as president of that chapter and assistant state director for four years. She also was the program chairman at the national level for one year and was the state director and national treasurer from 1980 - 1982 and in 1982 elected to the board of directors for a six year term. She was a charter member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Dr. Robert Phyfe Madden of Mount Airy, MD, and Richard Joseph Waite of Tupper Lake; daughter, Kathleen DeLapp of Long Lake; sister, Isabel Allee of Skillman, NJ; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Karen. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Long Lake Medical Center Building Fund. Arrangements were made by the Fortune Keogh Rennell Funeral Home.

Emilie Von Leesen, former resident of Farmingdale, died in her sleep on April 23, Easter Sunday, at the age of 93.

She and her husband John, who is now deceased, opened Von Leesen's Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street in Farmingdale, after moving into the community in 1939. The establishment grew to become a local landmark, and after changes in ownership, closed in the late 1990s. She was also a longtime member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Farmingdale.

In her later years, she resided in Port Jefferson with her daughter.

She is survived by two daughters - Helen Shafer of Tempe, Arizona and Joan Stecker of Port Jefferson, and two sons-in-law - William Shafer, of Tempe, Arizona and Dwight Stecker of Port Jefferson, in addition to three grandchildren - Karen Castro, and Keith and Sloane Stecker.

Burial services took place in Port Jefferson.
