County Agrees to Reassessment of Residential Properties
Less than a month after Nassau County Assessor Charles O'Shea joined the call for a reassessment of all residential and commercial properties in the county, county legislators voted 14-4 on Monday, March 27, to end a lawsuit against the system by agreeing to reassess all residential property by Jan. 1, 2003. Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs, said that the county "should be proud of the people they elected to office who will stand up and do what's right." The Democrats who were elected in November had all campaigned on a platform calling for reassessment.

PAL Senior Girls Lacrosse Team Starts Season Successfully
The Year 2000 PAL girls lacrosse season opened this past weekend with both 7th and 8th grade girls teams playing in the new and exciting Long Island Senior Girls Youth Lacrosse League (LISGYLL). The league is composed of 18 teams playing from 13 communities on Long Island playing in two divisions. Teams from Garden City, Manhasset, Long Beach, Rockville Centre, Huntington, Northport, Kings Park, North Shore, Carle Place, and Wantagh Seaford are just a number of the teams that play in the league along with two teams from Farmingdale.

Runners Invited to Marathon Clinic
Runners who will be competing in either the Canon Long Island Marathon or Canon Long Island Half Marathon this year are urged to attend a special pre-Race Clinic to be held at the Bethpage Public Library, on Powell Avenue in Bethpage, on Tuesday evening, May 2, starting promptly at 7:45 p.m. The clinic is being co-hosted by the Nassau County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Greater Long Island Running Club.
