It was only the second meet of the season, but on Dec. 17, the Dalers boys swim team captured three of the meet's last four events to defeat defending Nassau County Conference II champion Bellmore-Merrick, 97-86 at Farmingdale Pool. The win gave Farmingdale a 2-0 record, en-route to a 5-1 start through the first half of the season.

With five meets remaining, the Dalers, led by captains Mike Piampiano, Josh Howell, Joe Melograne and Ross Pye, have put themselves in good position for runs at both the conference and division titles. With strong contributions from Andrew Broten, Nick Orofino, Rich Psillos, Brandon Bloeth, Chris Padden and others, the team has developed more depth than the coaches anticipated heading into the season.
"Our expectations weren't that high coming into the season," said head coach Bob Clark. "But, the boys have worked very hard and really responded well in a couple of tight meets against Bellmore-Merrick and Massapequa. Now we've put ourselves in a position to win a championship. Hopefully, we can take advantage of that in the second half of the season."
There are several important meets coming up for the Dalers at home. They face conference foe Cold Spring Harbor on Jan. 25, division opponent Wantagh on Feb. 1 and on Feb. 8 they host Plainview in a meet that could decide the conference championship. All meets take place at the high school pool and begin at 4:30. Please come out and support the Dalers!
