An exciting day of football took place opening day this week in Franklin Square, where the 7-8-year-old Farmingdale Hawks Green team won in a convincing fashion, 20-7.

The offense, led by QB Joe Celano had 3 touchdowns and 106 yards. Fullback Kenny Lutz pounded out 51 yards on the ground and set-up key blocks for the touchdowns. Halfbacks, Jimmy Essig, Frank Essig and Alex Feiner piled up yards at will. Alex Feiner and Jimmy Essig each scored extra points. The offensive line consisted of Sean Bowman, Eric Peccia, Joe Kessler, Armando and Vincenzo Romeo, Sandeep Sing, Anthony Licata, Matthew Galatioto and K.C. Worker, who played outstanding by dominating Franklin Square's big defense with scoring drives of over 200 yards.

The defense owned Franklin Square's offense all day, giving up very few yards. Linebackers, Alex Feiner, Jimmy Essig, Kenny Lutz, Frank Essig and Joe Celano combined for over 20 tackles. The defensive line consisted of Sean Bowman, Robert Godas, Anthony Licata, Brian McNulty, Eric Peccia, James Darcy, K.C. Worker, Matthew Galatioto, Armando and Vincenzo Romeo, Paul Giretti stuffed Franklin Square's offense. Constant pressure, solid tackling and fumble recoveries made up a very solid performance by the Hawks. The team would also like to thank the cheerleaders for an outstanding job, and look forward to seeing them at all the games.
