Angela Maritas, of N. Massapequa, died on Aug. 16, 1999. Wife of the late Theodore. Mother of Steven Maritas and Christine Sottilare. Mother-in-law of Marisla and Robert. Sister of Frank Matassa and Connie Bonanno. Grandmother of Stefanie Sottilare, Nicholas Maritas, Victoria Sottilare, Brandon Maritas and Alexa Maritas. Arrangements were made by the N.F. Douglas Sedgley, 66, of Bethpage, died on Aug. 16, 1999. Born in Scotland, he served in the Army and graduated from Newark College of Engineering. He was a designer for Otis Elevator, a rocket developer for the Hughes Tool Co. and an engineer for the Marquardt Corp. Mr. Sedgley joined Grumman in 1963 where he was a major contributor to the development of the control system for the Grumman Lunar Excursion Module. He also worked with a group of engineers to bring Apollo 13 safely back to Earth after an onboard explosion. He worked in the Star Wars program and was a recognized authority in the development of specialized pumps to produce extremely high vacuums. He was also the author of a number of papers on the subject. Mr. Sedgley retired in 1999. Husband of Margaret (McAllister). Father of Paul and Donald and the late Jeffrey. Brother of Kathleen Pluemacher. Grandfather of three. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Harry Bauerle, of Melville, died on Aug. 17, 1999. He was a prisoner of war during WWII. Mr. Bauerle was past chief of the Wyandanch Fire Dept. Husband of Julia. Father of Harry and Scott. Grandfather of Scott and Ashley. Arrangements were made by the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home. Religious service. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Lawrence P. DeGeorge, of Melville, died recently. Husband of Una. Father of Katherine, Patricia, Beth and Alice. Brother of George, Tina Minervini and Gina Dougherty. Arrangements were made by the M.A. Connell Funeral Home, Huntington Station.
