The Farmingdale 7th and 8th grade boys lacrosse team recently won their final game against Massapequa 6-5. "The boys put all their hard work together to come up with a great win," said coaches Joe Grisafi and John Penza. "They did everything right; passing, ground balls and great team work. It was a great lacrosse game."

Joe Grisafi, Jr. was the scoring leader, with three goals and one assist. Dom Valente, Joe Bacani and Brad Cain each had one goal. John Penza and Brian Lacoff had one assist each. "This was truly a team effort. Everyone on that field today contributed to the win," added the coaches.

The defense was extremely tough, and was led by goalies Justin Burke and James Tuohy with 10 saves each. Adam Roughley, Efrem Bacani, Brian Bartholomew, Lawrence Stuart and Joe Bacani kept Massapequa in check at defense. The midfielders play a very strong offensive as well as defensive game. They were able to keep the ball down in the Massapequa end for most of the game. Midfielders Brad Cane, John Penza, Tom First, John Shellhorn, Andrew Carracino and Paul Dippolito kept Massapequa running all day.

With the help of the attackmen Joe Grisafi, Jr., Dom Valente, Brian Lacoff, Vinny Misuraca, Billy Tergesen and Zack Marano, Farmingdale was able to keep control of the game especially in the last three minutes.

"We told the boys before the game to have fun and they did. Throughout the game they remained "fired up" and were enjoying every minute of the game. We told them at half time that this is the game they will remember until next year. "Make it count and they did," the coaches said. They would like to thank all the boys for their dedication throughout all the practices. There will be a lacrosse picnic on June 28 at Marjorie Post Park from 5 to 8 p.m. All are invited to come out and help celebrate the year.
