Michael M. Waite, 53, of Melville, died on June 18, 1999. Born in the Bronx, he graduated from Hauppauge High School and attended Hofstra University. He participated in the ROTC program where he was recognized as a distinguished military graduate. He earned his bachelor's degree in finance. He served in the US Army as a captain where he commanded a mobile missile site from 1966 to 1968.
Mr. Waite joined the finance staff at Ford Motor Co. in Detroit in the castings division. He later joined his brother Charles at Waite Electronics, an electronic distribution business in Smithtown. They bought Harrison Radio Corp. where he served as chairman. He later opened two delis in Farmingdale with his sons Michael and Todd. He opened the Black Forest Brew Haus as a partner with Germany's Privatbraueri Hoepfner.
Mr. Waite was the husband of Mary Jo; son of James C. Sr. and Dorothy. Father of Michael, Todd and Stacey. Brother of James C. Jr., Richard, Eileen Buglion and the late Charles J. Waite. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Commack Abbey. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas More RC Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
