Airport Plaza Gains a Megastore
Home Depot moved from its Willow Park Center location on Smith Street, which is being closed. It joins such establishments already at the mall as Staples, Modell's, and Applebee's, and several other stores and eateries are expected to follow. A grand opening celebration for Home Depot's new, 132,000 square-foot retail center took place on June 9, and was attended by company officials, community leaders, area residents, and building trade contractors. The store opened its doors to customers on June 10.

Golden Lions Score in McDonald Tourney
The Golden Lions learned from last year's first round loss (to the eventual tournament champs, Farmingdale-based US Computer Group), but didn't dwell on it. As the Lions took the field, the team was confident. "We got our swagger back," said Lions' Anthony Curran.

7th and 8th Grade Boys Lax Wins Final Game
The Farmingdale 7th and 8th grade boys lacrosse team recently won their final game against Massapequa 6-5. "The boys put all their hard work together to come up with a great win," said coaches Joe Grisafi and John Penza. "They did everything right; passing, ground balls and great team work. It was a great lacrosse game."
