Despite hurricanes and wars, famine and drought, Long Island's tennis players are helping to create a world without hunger. Registration is now under way for the 19th Annual "Stop World Hunger" Tennis Tournament.

All entry fees and donations will be forwarded to Catholic Relief Services to assist in its efforts to circle the world with love. CRS is helping to feed God's hungry children in more than 70 countries, including the Balkans, Colombia, Sudan and the hurricane-ravaged lands of Central America. Assistance is provided based upon need regardless of race, religion and/or nationality.

Besides helping others, Long Island's tennis players have an opportunity to play some spirited tennis matches. The format consists of no elimination, round-robin play. Matches are best two out of three sets. There are divisions for men's and women's singles, as well as, men's, women's and mixed doubles. The cost is $6 for singles events and $10 for doubles.

Applications and more information may be obtained by writing to: "Stop World Hunger," Tennis Tournament, 53 Elm Place, Amityville, NY 11701. Or, if you prefer, you may call Matt Swit at 789-3618 between 9-10 p.m.
