The Farmingdale PAL fourth-grade White Lacrosse Team had another strong showing by beating Sachem 7-2 in its June 6 home game. The Dalers started slowly when Sachem took a 2-0 lead by winning most ground balls and outshooting Farmingdale. With the start of the second quarter, the Dalers quickly began to attack the Sachem net. Accurate passing and numerous scoring opportunities gave Farmingdale a 2-2 tie. The next goal gave the Dalers a 3-2 lead that they never relinquished. By the end of the first half, Farmingdale was dominating and leading by a 5-2 margin.
Despite the score, the Sachem offensive squad kept attacking the Farmingdale net for the entire game. A very physical Daler defense was led by Matt Barrett, Keith Kandora, James McCabe, Joe Muscarella, Peter Ostrander and Cory Smith. They used tough checking and aggressive play to turn back the Sachem attackers. Despite the Daler tough defense, goalie Matthew Kessler had to make 19 difficult saves to keep his team in the lead.
The Dalers midfield used steady and combative play to help turn the tide during this game. Middies David Aitchison, Joe Bagnasco, Nick Cottone, Eamon Keogh, Chris Maksym, Michael McPartland, John Olbeter, Dylan Ryan and Joe Zorovich began to pick up the ground balls, use aggressive checking and start fast breaks into the Sachem end of the field. An aggressive and sharpshooting attack was led by Joe Dervin, Nick D'Amico, Richie D'Amico and Rob Winant.
The strong offense included goal scorers Joe Bagnasco (3), John Olbeter, Richie D'Amico, Nick D'Amico and David Aitchison. Assists came from Richie D'Amico (2), Nick D'Amico (2), John Olbeter, Joe Bagnasco, Chris Maksym and Mike McPartland.
The players, coaches and parents were proud of the players and their strong team effort during this victory.
