The Farmingdale Board of Education held a meeting on June 2. After beginning with the presentation of awards to many students in science, mathematics, music and leadership, the board quickly voted to make the discussion regarding changing the name of the East Memorial Elementary School at Mill Lane next on the agenda.

The 1999 Farmingdale High School Boy's JV Lacrosse team completed a tremendous season with a record of 12 wins and three losses. They scored a total of 146 goals for the season with only 70 total goals scored by their opponents. Their "man down" team also had an impressive 88 percent total of goals not being scored against them.

The St. Kilian 15-year-olds Farmingdale Athletics opened their 1999 season on May 28, and are once again competing in the Federation of Amateur Baseball Leagues (FABL), a league that consists of teams from all over Long Island as well as Queens. In the first week of the season, the St. Kilian team went 4-0-1.
