The 10th Annual Senior Citizen Prom was held on Saturday, May 8, at the Farmingdale High School Commons.

Prom Coordinator Francis Rotondo and Co-Coordinators Pat Bodine and Eileen Pucci are to be commended for their untiring efforts to make this evening a wonderful memory for all the seniors who attended.

The "Picnic in the Park" theme set the mood and delighted all. The hand-crafted decorations and favors, the wide display of food and unending desserts left all who were there with so many happy memories.

To all the teachers and students who worked so diligently and to the business community of Farmingdale and surrounding communities¬thank you for your generous contributions, your time and your talents.

It can not go left unnoticed the fine job being done at Main Street and Fulton in the Village of Farmingdale by Asplundh Co. Thank you to the State of New York, Nassau County, and the Town of Oyster Bay, the Village of Farmingdale officials, in particular Nassau County Legislator of the 14th District Salvatore B. Pontillo and Farmingdale Mayor Joseph Trudden. This project has been a long time in coming. It can only help our village in the years ahead. Being a former member of the Inc. Village Beautification Committee, this project will enhance our downtown area. The Asplundh Co. has been working with the least amount of disturbance to our residents and in a timely manner. Thank you all.

It was sad to read in Sunday's Newsday our former Village Clerk Jimmy McKenna would not be participating in this year's Memorial Day Parade. What a pleasant surprise to see Jimmy at the podium at the end of the parade. I remember Jimmy as a child myself-the way he was so proud to be marching with the Farmingdale Fire Department. Jimmy, it was great to see you for your 80th year of participation. All of us who know you wish you the very best.
