The second annual Vytra Kids Helping Kids 5 Kilometer Run & Walk will be held on Father's Day - Sunday, June 20, and everyone from Farmingdale and the Massapequas is invited to show up at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School for what promises to be a great morning of family fitness and fun.

The theme of the morning will be "kids helping kids in need," and the beneficiaries of all moneys raised will be the ASPIRE Program for the rehabilitation of young amputees and The Children's Brain Tumor Foundation. The Run will be administered by the Great Long Island Running Club, with technical assistance provided by Finish Line Road Race Technicians. Bob Eslick of the Kids Helping Kids organization will serve as the race director.

Included in the morning's activities will be a 440-yard kids sprint at 8:15 a.m., a one-half mile kids fun run at 8:30 a.m. both on the track at the middle school, and the 5 Kilometer main event, which will start at 9:15 a.m.

The entry fee for the 5K is $17 for those who register in advance and $20 on the day of the Run. All kids age 12 and under run "sponsor free" in either of the kids events or the 5K, with the entry fee donated by Woodbury Country Deli.

Cash prizes will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall in the 5K Run, and trophies will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each of 17 age groups. There will also be special awards to the top Clydesdale finishers, and the top three father/son and father/daughter teams. The oldest and youngest male and female finishers in the 5K who are residents of Plainview-Old Bethpage will also be presented with awards.

After the Run, a special raffle drawing will be held, with prizes in excess of $10,000 to be awarded to lucky ticket holders. Everyone who enters the Run is entitled to one raffle ticket and additional tickets are available for purchase. You must be present at the Awards Ceremony to win.

"This will be a wonderful day for the whole family," observed Kids Helping Kids" Bob Eslick. "We are appreciative of the wonderful support being provided by Vytra Health Plans, Woodbury Country Deli, North Fork Bank, Tucker Anthony, B.K. Sweeney's, and all our other great sponsors, and we invite everyone to join us on June 20 to help us celebrate "kids helping kids."
